Job Summary: The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and driving strategic initiatives within the Business Development team. This individual will manage the full sales cycle, lead creative project workflows, conduct high-level research, and ensure seamless execution of deliverables. Acting as a key liaison between internal teams and clients, the Manager ensures processes are efficient, communications are clear, and deliverables align with the organization’s objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales Cycle Orchestration
  • Lead and oversee the sales cycle in collaboration with the Business Development and Business Leadership teams, ensuring timely follow-up on deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for scheduling, aligning, and managing communications, fostering strong client relationships.
  • Oversee the creation and refinement of client-facing materials, including case studies, pitch responses, and capabilities presentations, ensuring quality and alignment with brand messaging.
  • Drive cross-departmental collaboration for RFP’s, scopes of work, creative project management, including creating work-back schedules, tracking milestones, and ensuring on-time delivery.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for organic growth with existing clients, presenting strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Maintain, organize, and optimize the Copper CRM to track sales and business development efforts.
Strategic Prospect Research and Development
Lead research efforts to support overarching business strategies, creative proposals, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Analyze and distill extensive data into actionable insights, delivering clear and concise materials such as briefs, backgrounders, and presentations.
  • Prepare strategic opportunity briefs, identifying business challenges and areas of opportunity for client engagement.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and category developments, providing weekly research updates to inform business strategies.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients, utilizing tools and research to identify opportunities and key contacts.
Agency Marketing Leadership
  • Manage and contribute to agency-wide marketing efforts, including content creation for external newsletters (e.g., SuperFun Times).
  • Collaborate with the Innovation Team to execute thought leadership initiatives and increase brand visibility.
  • Oversee the production and distribution of the internal Business Development Newsletter, keeping the organization informed of industry news and strategic campaigns.
  • Identify and implement scalable processes to improve operational efficiency within the Business Development function.
  • Partner with Executive Leadership to identify and monetize opportunities related to owned event properties such as Outside Lands.
  • Develop and manage relationships with potential sponsors
  • Manage festival credentialing processes and serve as the onsite point of contact for guests, ensuring seamless execution and a high-quality experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, client relations, or project management.
  • Proven ability to independently drive projects, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Copper, Salesforce) and tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator
When determining compensation, several unique factors come into play. Currently, a fair salary range estimate is $65,000-$75,000. Compensation decisions are influenced by factors such as experience, training, skill set, business needs, and travel requirements.
